Chemistry and Environmental Engineering
Graduates in Chemistry and Environmental Engineering are certified chemical engineers with additional skills to help them cope with current and future environmental challenges. In addition to core chemical engineering courses, students with Chemistry and Environmental Engineering degree will also take a professional course. There are a variety of job opportunities in the field, including process engineering, industrial ecology, waste recycling, environmental modeling, impact assessment, water supply and treatment, climate policy, energy systems, environmental regulation, and sustainability. WHAT CAN CHEMISTRY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING MAJORS DO?
1. Chemical engineer
Chemical engineers plan to manufacture products through chemical technology. They decide how to make the process safe, which reaction pathways to use, how to purify the product, how to reduce, treat and dispose of any by-products, how to handle unreacted materials, and how to make process costs and energy efficiency as high as possible. They also designed new and improved chemical manufacturing processes.
Chemical engineers are helping to solve the energy crisis by creating fuel and electricity.
2. Environmental Engineer
Environmental engineers use engineering, soil science, biology and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. They are involved in improving recycling, waste management, public health and water and air pollution control. Due to the nature of the task, environmental engineers work in a variety of environments. Environmental engineers may work in the office when they work with other engineers and city and regional planners. When they implement solutions through construction projects, they are likely to be on construction sites. Environmental engineers must have a bachelor's degree in chemical and environmental engineering.
3. NATURE PROTECTION OFFICER
As a nature protection officer, you are committed to protecting, managing and improving the local environment. This may include grasslands, woodlands, forests, coastal areas, marshes, mountains, and rivers. Depending on the region, you may also work in marine habitats.
Part of the responsibility is to encourage people to use the countryside to raise awareness and understanding of the natural environment. You will develop policies that may have the local and national impact. If you are passionate about the environment and want to encourage others to enjoy and protect the environment, then this may be your job.
