International Public Administration

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
At the most basic level, public administrations try to understand how governments make decisions and support these resolutions. International students explain that, unlike some areas of research, public administration is not a discipline of its own, but requires business, economics, management, political theory, public policy, and sociology to inform its analysis and decision-making. International public administration has expanded its focus and considers how a country's decisions affect relations with other countries, courtesy or economy.
Public administration must be understood in its international context. The course in International Public Administration (IPA) provides a foundation for this understanding by focusing on the internationalization of national public administration; the European administrative space; and the role of international bureaucracies. The course places emphasis on analyzing the interaction of national, supranational and international administrative systems and the consequences of internationalization on nationally-based public administration. The course will illustrate the interactions of multilateral IPA through a series of case studies of public administration and policy making across national boundaries.
International public administration can take many forms
One role of the international public administration is to improve governance. The most important aspect of improving governance is the exchange of knowledge so that people directly involved in public administration can make informed decisions.
International accounting standards cover the development, reforms and trends of public administration. To this end, the department employs a large number of employees and many interns. The organization works by developing conferences and publishing articles. International public administration graduates will be able to study what is happening in international public administration, study trends related to it, and predict what will happen next and then forward that knowledge so that others can make informed decisions about participation in public administration. Graduates of the International Public Administration Program can also consider organizations such as the Public Policy, Affairs and Administrative College Network, which promotes public service concepts and provides training for public service positions. Another important aspect of international public administration is the ability to improve relations between nations. For example, the United States Government established the Iraq Transition Assistance Office (ITAO) in 2007 to help support the rights of the Iraqi people and work to rebuild the local economy there. Being a diplomat is another possibility. These people work in international consulates and embassies and are often required to complete diplomatic missions. International public administration is a diversified field with many employment options for anyone interested in working with or on behalf of the government.
