Biology

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Biology is a natural science that contains chemistry and physics, and all colleges and universities have this major. The profession explores all biotic and abiotic forms from microbes to plants, animals and humans. The Subdiscipline of Biology focuses on species and biota and conducts in-depth research into its growth and evolution, origins, actions, and distribution around the world.
Biology is an edge discipline developed in recent years. Although it is a new thing, its emergence and existence are the inevitable result of scientific development, and will play a decisive role in the development and progress of the country and society. Now, more than 100 colleges and universities in China have established bioscience majors, such as China University of Science and Technology and Peking University, and also provide corresponding opportunities for further study.
The state and society have a demand for this profession, and they also attach great importance to it. From this development trend, the employment prospects of this profession are still very considerable.
Biology degree is a broad-based degree. During the degree study, you will gain an understanding of biology at many different levels, from the molecular biology of the cell, through how animals and plants function as organisms, to their ecological interactions with each other and with the environment. You will study modules in each of the core subject areas of genetics, animal biology, plant biology and ecology/evolution throughout your degree.
From the second year, you can choose the balance of modules across these areas, allowing your interests to develop during the degree. Some students choose to specialize in areas such as ecology, behavior and conservation biology, while others prefer the molecular and genetic aspects. This ensures the breadth of knowledge expected of Biology graduates, and allows access to a wide range of careers.
If your interests in life science include whole organism as well as molecular aspects, and you would like to study topics such as ecology, animal behavior, animal/plant physiology and evolution, then Biology may be your best choice.
CAREER PROSPECTS
Students in biology majors can go to scientific research institutions or institutions of higher learning to conduct scientific research or teaching, such as industry, medicine, food and other fields. We can roughly divide them into two categories: research management and education. In addition, the science and technology of biology is relatively high, so it is necessary for students in this discipline to continue to study professional scientific research.
