Geochemistry is the study of the chemical composition, chemical action and chemical evolution of the Earth and some celestial bodies. It has the characteristics of both basic disciplines and applied basic disciplines. In addition to its extensive application in various fields of geochemistry, it has rapidly penetrated into environmental science, ecology, biology, medicine, agronomy, space science and other disciplines in recent years. It presents a prosperous landscape with deep roots, branches and leaves. The geochemistry major also has a certain influence in China, and it has a discipline system of basics, masters and blogs. Five distinct research directions: 1) environmental geochemistry; 2) elemental geochemistry; 3) isotope geochemistry; 4) deposit geochemistry; 5) biogeochemistry.
Geochemistry is also used for environmental risk assessment. Geochemical analyses can be used to determine the naturally occurring levels of elements and substances in the ecosystem or to ascertain if any non-naturally occurring substances are present. Because the health of humans and animals is affected by the geochemical composition of the land on which they live, by having knowledge of areas where health threats exist, these can be addressed or mitigated. The chemical and physical properties of the host mineral play a key role in the behavior of the elements of the underlying environmental problem. This includes elements such as copper, lead, zinc and mercury, as well as metals such as arsenic.
HOW DO I GET ACCEPTED INTO A PHD GEOCHEMISTRY PROGRAM?
Every tutor is looking for motivated students to help them with their research. Suppose you have a master's or undergraduate degree in geology, chemistry, earth science or environmental science. Maybe you are already in the geochemical plan. The first step is to identify some of the teachers who are doing research in areas of interest to you. Find out what they are looking for in their new Ph.D. students and read their papers. Write a direct article to potential Ph.D. supervisors about working with them in specific geochemistry areas and speed up their research before writing. This route actually allows you to enter the door before someone with better grades because they don't show a compelling interest in working with a particular teacher than you. The letter of recommendation is very important, so I hope that you have completed some undergraduate research to prove that you are a potential doctoral material. If you think you meet the requirements, take the time to discuss your Ph.D.. Then you need to find out the minimum requirements for his/her department and graduate school. If the teacher has indicated that you will have a location in his/her lab, then the opportunity you receive will be better.
The employment prospects of this major are still good. Graduates can engage in scientific research, prospecting, soil environmental surveys, and so on.
